The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Control board requires all marijuana retailers with a medical marijuana endorsement to have at least one certified consultant on staff. The consultant is responsible for entering in all medical marijuana patients and their authorized providers, as well as making medical recommendations.

There are currently only 3 places with accredited courses for the certification and the consultant must also complete an application with the Liquor and Cannabis Control Board, including CPR training.
